3) Creating a new company file and entering the initial details
Now that we¢â‚¬â„¢ve decided to go with an accounting software solution, which is a good decision If I might add, and you¢â‚¬â„¢ve downloaded and installed your preferred software. It is about time to start getting some of your data in there.
You basically want to create a new company file for your company.

This is where you¢â‚¬â„¢re going to store the information and records about your company, some general information about your company is required to begin with.
Later you¢â‚¬â„¢ll probably want to get stuck into it and put your items, customise your invoices, enter your customer¢â‚¬â„¢s details and so... but that¢â‚¬â„¢s for another day.

For now we just going to go through the new company wizard and create a new file.
Select the option to create a new company file

Enter your company details, to be used in reports and forms

Update the starting balances for default accounts ¢â‚¬" this step is not necessary in most cases, so just click next

Register your new company file ¢â‚¬" this is where you tell us that you¢â‚¬â„¢ve started using our software which makes us very happy ¢â‚¬" we¢â‚¬â„¢re also keen to get ANY feedback you might have.

Select a location to save your new file

This does it; you¢â‚¬â„¢re now the proud owner of a brand new company file, ready to accept your important business information. It wasn¢â‚¬â„¢t so hard, was it?
The next step will be to setup our chart of accounts (sometimes to referred to as COA), which is where we are starting customise the default settings to fit the specific needs of your business.
